Artistic Skating

Join Artitstic RollerskatingArtistic skating demands a careful balance of strength. precision, and artistry, all wrapped up into a single performance. Many challenges exist to inspire all ages to reach individual goals, from beginner classes to National and International levels. Skaters can train and compete in several artistic category:

Freeskate

This demands creativity, technical agility and virtuosity. The objective is for skaters to freely integrate the technical components - jumps, spins, and footwork - with music, tocreate a performance which embraces the realms of both sport and art.

Dance

Analogous to ballroom dancing, it focuses of creativity, skating ability, step execution, and musical interpretation to a constant tempo.

Figures

This teaches balance and control, and is often considered the basis of all skating. It requires the execution of pre-defined maneuvers on a set of circles drawn on the floor.

Precision

This requires the ultimate coordination and unison, as it is team-skating, from 6 to 16 people or more, performing a routine together. The aim is for the team to skate as one uniform entity.

Competitions

Several competitive events run each year, locally and in Perth. The level of competition ranges from Development to National, and even International events. Skaters must join the Bunbury Rollerskating Club and Skate Australia in order to compete at the events. See the office for more info.
