Artistic Skating
Artistic skating demands a careful balance of strength. precision, and artistry, all wrapped up into a single performance. Many challenges exist to inspire all ages to reach individual goals, from beginner classes to National and International levels. Skaters can train and compete in several artistic category:FreeskateThis demands creativity, technical agility and virtuosity. The objective is for skaters to freely integrate the technical components - jumps, spins, and footwork - with music, tocreate a performance which embraces the realms of both sport and art. DanceAnalogous to ballroom dancing, it focuses of creativity, skating ability, step execution, and musical interpretation to a constant tempo. FiguresThis teaches balance and control, and is often considered the basis of all skating. It requires the execution of pre-defined maneuvers on a set of circles drawn on the floor. PrecisionThis requires the ultimate coordination and unison, as it is team-skating, from 6 to 16 people or more, performing a routine together. The aim is for the team to skate as one uniform entity. CompetitionsSeveral competitive events run each year, locally and in Perth. The level of competition ranges from Development to National, and even International events.
